Arts Education
I was born and raised in Newfoundland and received my Bachelor of Primary/Elementary Education in 2007 from Memorial University. I taught full time in Newfoundland until 2018, when I moved to Fort McMurray. Upon my arrival, I taught full time with the Fort McMurray Catholic School Division until having my son in 2020. Since then, I have taught as a substitute teacher as well as worked as an Education Consultant and Program Director. I have a wealth of experience and educational knowledge as throughout my career I have worked in grades K, 2, 4, 5, and 6, as well as delivered subjects in grades 7 and 8. Last year, I had the honour of joining the Timberlea family as their art teacher and I am excited to announce my second year here, this time teaching Art and Gym.
I am passionate about curriculum and instruction and I have participated in writing and implementing new curriculum throughout my teaching career, including an art curriculum guide. I am also passionate about inclusion, creative expression, and mental and physical wellness. I value the importance of getting to know the interests of my students in order to make meaningful connections with them and to make their learning relevant and fun!
I am thrilled that I get to continue my journey as a Timberwolf this year and I look forward to again working with the incredible students of TL!
