Lockdown Drill #1 - Tue. Oct. 15 @ 9:00 a.m.
Each year students and staff participate in lockdown drills to prepare ourselves for a variety of emergency situations. To minimize stress and fear, students and staff will be given advance notice of the date and time of the first drill. Future drills will be performed with less advance notice, then with no notice at all. After each drill we assess our response times and efficiency and work to enhance our practices to ensure maximum student and staff safety. We plan to perform a minimum of 3 lockdown drills each year, as well as 6 fire drills (evacuations).
PTI's will be held on Wed. Oct. 23 from 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and on Thur. Oct. 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Click here to book your appointment on our school website. If you need assistance, please call the school office. Mrs. Fisher and Ms. Hiebert will contact parents directly to arrange times on another date for Kindergarten PTI's.
Kindergarten Report Cards
Beginning this year, Kindergarten teachers will pair the review of the EYE-TA student report with a Parent/Teacher Interview to communicate children's progress. Using a discussion guide, teachers will explain progress in multiple domains of early learning, as well as personal growth and development. Formal Kindergarten report cards will be issued at the end of term 2 and at year's end.
Author Visit to YMM
Some of you may know Dr. Jody Carrington as the author of "Kids These Days" and her conclusions that it is the relationships that have changed and not the kids. Dr. Carrington will be returning to Fort McMurray March 12, 2020. Click the link below for more details:
Students submitted their ideas for naming our new MicroSociety. Staff narrowed the options down to 4 names: Timber Land, Timberaria, Wolf Land, and Wolflandia. ECDP-6 students all voted in their classrooms on October 7. The clear winner was "Wolf Land"! Students also have completed development of Wolf Land's constitution, and have begun the nomination process for government positions of Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Member of Parliament. Campaigning will be followed by a general election slated for Thu. Oct. 24!
