Teachers - Learning Assistance Centre, Special Education - ELL
Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year!
My name is Stephanie Merrick and I have been in Fort McMurray for 17 years. I moved here to pursue my teaching career and ended up meeting my husband, Gerry. We now have two beautiful daughters that attend Timberlea Public. Trinity is in grade 5 and Sierra is in grade 4.
I am originally from Clarenville Newfoundland but have moved around quite a bit. I taught English in South Korea for 2 years, was a teacher on call in Nova Scotia and finally travelled to an isolated community in Northern Ontario before deciding to settle in Fort McMurray. I love Fort McMurray and plan on being here until I retire.
During my teaching career in Fort McMurray I spent the first 6 years at Greely Road School teaching the VIP Program until I went on maternity leave in 2007. Upon returning, I taught grade 2 at the Islamic School and then moved to Timberlea where I taught grade 3, grade 4 and grade 5 math and computers. Currently, I am looking forward to another year of LAC and ELL.
I love animals and have two dogs, a male American Pit Bull Terrier and a female American Staffordshire Terrier. We also have 6 Piranha, 2 Oscars and an assortment of other tropical fish.
During the summer, my family and I do a lot of camping and boating at Elinor Lake Resort.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
I look forward to another great year at Timberlea Public School.
